Themed Food & Drinks for Your Oscar Party
By Cara Chronis February 21,2013
Amour and Les Misérables: Both films are French, so why not serve French Onion Dip as an appetizer? French Onion Soup would also make a delicious side, and you can’t go wrong with a baguette and cheese for an appetizer. We’re also big fans of poutine here at GLAM. For drinks, check out these traditional French cocktails. Silver Linings Playbook: This much-buzzed-about film was set in Philadelphia with a football theme, so anything with Philadelphia Cream Cheese would be appropriate. Kraft’s Philadelphia Indulgence Cream Cheese spread is super easy to serve with cookies, strawberries…you name it! Check out GLAM’s review here. Philly cheese steaks are also a favorite comfort food to serve, check out this recipe for the mini version. Life of Pi: This incredible film takes place in India, so go for Indian-inspired dishes. You could try onion bhaji, small onion fritters, which is delicious when served with hot chutney for an appetizer. Pork vindaloo and curry coconut chicken make great main dishes. Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty: You have the most freedom with Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty – anything “all American” works for these films! Interesting fact: honoring Lincoln’s love of seafood, President Obama’s inaugural luncheon featured a seafood stew in puff pastry, scallops, shrimp and lobster. Django Unchained and Beasts of the Southern Wild: Try traditional Southern food like collard greens, corn bread, fried chicken, and mashed potatoes. For dessert, try mini pies. For drinks, serve iced tea! Enjoy your party!
