Oh, the oat: nourishing, cleansing, and oh so tasty!
Are oats a staple in your home? Well they should be; and I’ll tell you why. Oats are one of those amazing multi-purpose superfoods that support a glorious lifestyle in many different ways.
- First of all, have you had an oatmeal-raisin cookie? Oye! Those babies are sure to put a smile on your face. Oats help make a lot of other tasty treats, such as oatmeal, granola, pancakes, breads, and some even find their way into veggie burgers.
- The second reason to have oats in your life is because they’re good for you! Oats are whole grains – the good kind of carb that is essential in a balanced diet. Oats contain soluble fiber, which absorbs LDL’s (the bad cholesterol), and they reduce the risk of heart disease.
- Lastly, oats aren’t only great in your body, they’re great on your body as well. Oats are used in many beauty care products as a natural exfoliant and skin cleanser to remove dirt, makeup, and excess oil. Check out this simple mask made of oatmeal for a great home remedy. Oats help soften and soothe the skin and are even used to treat more serious skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis.
Stock your pantry with these modest little gems - they are absolute miracle- workers on your taste buds, in your body, and on your skin!

I couldn’t agree with you more! As a matter of fact, I’m eating a bowl of oatmeal right now.
Oatmeal with a spoonful of honey, a handful of dried fruit and a pinch of salt is the perfect breakfast in my book!

Amen! I LOVE slow-cooked oats. So much so that I’ve been known to eat them for breakfast and lunch… they’re just so good!
Laurie, I love your add-ins. Mine are 2 teaspoons of ground flax seeds, some brown sugar and 9 raw almonds. Goodness, I’m hungry just typing that!
