Wellness on Wednesday is all about the natural you!
An eye pillow is perfect for drifting off into a lavender scented slumber. Make your own by following these simple directions from Victoria Everman of Yoga Journal Magazine.
What You’ll Need
- 1/2 yard of fabric
- 1/2 cup of dried beans or flax seeds
- 1/2 cup dried rice, lentils, or buckwheat
- 1/2 cup dried lavender or chamomile
Directions
1. Mark two 4 1/2-by-10-inch rectangles on the nonprinted side of the fabric. Cut along the marks to create two panels.
2. Place the panels with the printed sides together. Stitch a 1/2-inch seam around the edges, backstitching at each end. Leave one of the 4-inch sides open, so you can add the filling. Stitch a reinforcement seam around the edges, still leaving the 4-inch side open.
3. Cut two 1/4-inch notches in the area between the stitching and the cut edge of the fabric. There should be one on either side of the four corners. Turn the fabric right side out.
4. Spoon filling into pillow.
5. Fold each side of the remaining 4-inch seam 1/2 an inch toward the inside of the pillow, and pin the opening closed. Stitch a seam across the folded edges to close the opening.
Lie down, close your eyes, and enjoy.
